Language and Culture Camps
Language Culture Camps create an opportunity for First Nations families, Elders and youth to be immersed in the language and culture through activities that facilitate the transmission of traditional knowledge and values. They nurture the relationship between youth, Elders and the land.
Language Authority and Language Plan Development
The First Peoples' Heritage, Language and Culture Council (FPHLCC), the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation (MARR) and the New Relationship Trust have come together in support of First Nations language and culture revitalization strategies in British Columbia. By working collectively, we will maximize the resources available to communities engaged in language and cultural work. We are pleased to announce a call for expression of interest in regards to the Language Authority and Language Plan Development for B.C. language communities.

Pre-School Language Nest Program

We are pleased to announce a call for expression of interest in regards to the Pre-School Language Nests program for B.C. language communities.

Master-Apprentice Program
The goal of this program is to facilitate the development of fluent speakers in B.C. First Nations languages through a program where Elders/fluent speakers are partnered with committed learners in an immersion environment in the home and on the land for 300 hours a year. This is a one-on-one program.

The BC Language Initiative (BCLI)
The B.C. Language Initiative (BCLI) is a provincial program funded
through the First Citizens Fund. The BCLI supports projects that seek
to revitalize provincial First Nations languages through documentation,
language classes, immersion programs, material and curriculum
development and promotion. First Nations communities and organizations
are eligible to submit proposals to the BCLI, which distributes
approximately $600,000 per year.

The Aboriginal Languages Initiative (ALI)
The Aboriginal Languages Initiative (ALI) is a federal program funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage. The ALI provides funding support for community and regionally-based projects directed at maintaining, revitalizing and promoting First Nations languages. ALI funds are distributed to provincial and territorial delivery organizations.
