Programs Offering Funding

The Aboriginal Languages Initiative (ALI) 2010-2011

The Aboriginal Language Initiative (ALI) is a federal program funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage. The ALI provides funding support for community and regionally-based projects directed at maintaining, revitalizing and promoting First Nations languages. ALI funds are distributed to provincial and territorial delivery organizations. FPHLCC is the regional delivery agent for B.C. and allocates approximately $200,000 annually.

Our partner organization, the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation, will now be distributing ALI funding, but the First Peoples' Heritage, Language and Culture Council will help the Foundation administer the funding. The application process will remain largely the same, but you will need to download application forms from www.fpcf.ca once they are available in March.

The deadline to apply for next year’s ALI funding is expected to be in April 2010. Please watch the Foundation website for updates. We will also send out updates via fax, email, Facebook and Twitter.
