Welcome to the First Peoples’ Arts Portfolio Handbook!
Whether you’re a painter, carver, musician, singer, storyteller, actor, dancer, filmmaker, beadwork artist or new media artist, an arts portfolio is a necessary part of your life as an artist.
An arts portfolio is a package of information about your history and experience as an artist. In your arts portfolio package, you can include an artist biography, artist statement, artist resume (or ‘CV’ curriculum vitae), and samples of your work on photo, video or audio CD.
This handbook has been designed to provide you with some basic tips and templates to get your arts portfolio started. There are also many, many wonderful examples of artist portfolios online – so it’s well worth taking a few minutes to see what others have done.
Remember – your portfolio is a reflection of your creativity, so feel free to tailor any of the information in this handbook to suit your needs. Your portfolio will become a living record of your experiences as an artist, so have fun designing it and re-designing it.
